You know, this really shouldn't be a secret, and there's absolutely nothing magic about knowing it, but it can save you big travel bucks: if you want to see the Caribbean and get cheap Caribbean travel for your Caribbean vacation, travel in the summer. What am I talking about? Well, if you've been dying to go, but you hate the high prices during the peak travel season (the winter and the chilly months of fall and spring in North America), then you really should check out rates and availability for cheap Caribbean travel in the summer months, when on most islands the weather is gorgeous. Why? Way less people, hotels are not crowded at all, water sports and associated concessions are not very busy, the people in the service industries that deal with tourists are way more relaxed and mellow, and lots of merchants are willing to deal. The only thing that might not be a hot bargain will be the air fare (generally no cheap airfare) as the air lines cut down the number of flights in the summer months--their off season. (Sometimes regional carriers do offer special air fares, so always check.) But, the amount you save on everything else will more than offset it.
